Located in Almería, the La Cañada greenhouse will carry out demonstration activities with Tomato Margimeno RZ over three growing seasons (February 2026 to July 2027). Advanced technologies such as climate control systems, remote monitoring, AI algorithms, and decision support systems (DSS) will be deployed to optimize growing conditions, improve yields, and enhance resource efficiency in the region’s arid climate. These systems will also address pest and disease management to promote sustainable farming practices.
In the replication phase, the greenhouse will shift to cultivating Italian peppers across two growing seasons (August 2027 to July 2028). These pilots will evaluate the adaptability of the precision technologies for a different crop, demonstrating their scalability and effectiveness in Mediterranean and arid greenhouse environments
